Sarah Rice began her career as The Girl in the long-running Off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks. She originated the role of Johanna in Sweeney Todd on Broadway for which she won a Theatre World Award. She can be heard on its Grammy Award-winning original cast album. As a performer of opera, operetta, and theater, she has performed leading soprano and dramatic roles all over the world with luminaries including Joan Sutherland, Richard Bonynge, Leona Mitchell, Marni Nixon, Angela Lansbury, Harold Prince and Stephen Sondheim among others. Rice is a recent Bistro Award and MAC AWARD winner (Female Vocalist) for her critically acclaimed solo cabaret debut, Sarah Rice Sings Screen Gems, Songs of Old Hollywood.
